This weekend, I and my family was invited to O’Pao Indian sliders, Dubai for lunch and hence presenting my review of O’ Pao Indian Sliders, Dubai – Explore the Best Vada Pao in Dubai. The origination of Vada Pao or Indian Burger dates from the 1960’s in Mumbai from the colonies of textile mill workers. The person behind to start this new dish is Ashok Vaidya in 1966 and he brought the unique concept of assembling the dumplings of potato fritters known as Vada into Portuguese style of bun known as Pao with some coriander dips, spices and fried peanuts and selling it at very nominal price so that common man can afford and have full meal too. Earlier it was popular among the common man, but now from common man to celebrities, this Vada Pao is popular Mumbai style street food in international food markets too. Even McDonalds too have created a similar concept of Mc Aloo Tikki Burger to compete with Vada Pao in Indian markets. But you can never beat the spicy flavors of Vada Pao(Indian street style burger). Now you can see how popular and favorite is Vada Pao and therefore O’Pao too has brought the same Mumbai’s flavors to Dubai and also added many unique variations and twists to authentic Vada Pao. O’Pao has a quirky menu with authentic Vada Pao and also many fusion varities of Vada Pao. So you can have a unique fusion of Indian and western foods makes it a perfect choice to dine in Dubai. A perfect combination of home flavors with a blend of western flavors and on top of it, they are served in a very interesting concept to your tables. Now I am taking you to a virtual tour of O’Pao Indian Sliders with many flavors of famous street food from Mumbai.
AMBIANCE / DÉCOR OF O’ Pao Indian Sliders, Dubai
As the concept of this restaurant is desi(authentic) street food from Mumbai and so are the interiors. The walls are adorned with huge Mural art from Mumbai’s street culture and local Mumbai’s life which is very colorful and interesting too. This makes this place a perfect Instragrammable spot. The seating arrangements are not much but they have two kinds of choices like bar stool types and eat at ease on sofa style of arrangement. You can say, this restaurant has a typical fast-food joint type of seating with colorful wall art and that makes the place very lively.
The tiny cashier or reception of this restaurant has some quirky items sold like street style candies, Rusks, snacks from Maharashtra (state of India) which resembles the street selling joint of Mumbai and this took me to nostalgic lanes of my fun memories associated with my living in Mumbai.

WHAT I ORDERED AT O’ Pao Indian Sliders, Dubai
As I have earlier said that the specialty of this restaurant serves many types of Vada Pao(Indian burger) with unique fusion inspired by western flavors. You would find interesting items on the menu which you might not have tasted before. I too have tasted some fusion flavors for the first time.
We were warmly welcomed by a staff member of O’Pao’s team – Mr. Mintu who took our order very patiently explaining all the details of the menu.
For STARTERS
KANDA(ONION) BHAJI
Onion fritters made with onion dipped in Gram Lentils or chickpea flour, spices and then deep fried in oil. Served hot with Green coriander dip.
JALAPENO CHEESY POPPERS
Spicy Jalapeno filled with cheese and coated with chunky flour and then deep fried is served hot. This is really hot and the filling remains hot till the end. So eat with caution or else you will burn your tongue.
DRINKS
MASALA THUMS UP
An aerated drink with fusion of Lemon Mint water(Jal Jeera). This fusion drink with Thums Up is very unique. Though I do not drink aerated drink but this drink is really a worth try.
COKE FLOAT (FLOATING VANILLA ICE-CREAM ON COKE)
An aerated drink with vanilla ice-cream topping. This fusion is also adorable, especially with kiddos.
MAIN COURSE
AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL VADA PAO
Dumplings of Boiled Potato mashed with many Indian spices coated with chickpea flour and then deep fried. These dumplings are like patties and then they are placed in special square shaped buns which are again coated with Indian spices, Green coriander dip and peanuts. So it resembles like burger but with some twists with flavors. O’Pao has also put their signature on each bun with their brown markings which you can spot at the top of buns. This flavor is authentic one which is similar to Mumbai type of Vada Pao.
O’ PANEER MAKHNI PAO
Paneer Makhani is special Indian gravy which is found very common in North Indian cuisine and so with this they have created slightly dry version of Paneer Makhni dish and then assembled it in Buns. If you are cottage cheese lovers then you would truly relish it.
O’ MANCHURIAN PAO
Manchurian Pao is a fusion of Indian flavors with Chinese flavors. Veggie Manchurian balls with thick Chinese style gravy is assembled into Buns with fried noodles. This is the most awesome fusion Pao, according to me. You must include this in your order as it is the most tasties Vada Pao.
O’ TRIPLE SCHEZWAN MAGGI PAO
Famous Maggi noodles and Cheese with Schezwan spicy sauce are stuffed into Buns. If you love Maggi then go for it.
O’ CHILLI CHEESY PAO
It is open toasted buns with cheese and red chilli flakes. Famous snack at Bombay Gymkhana. You can relate it to Garlic bread type but it is infused with spices and chilli.

Didnt know there’s this Mumbai version of burger ! Of course every Asian cuisines will have baos ! Did you have all 4 burgers in one servings ? Haha dont think i’ll prefer the one with maggi noodles but the original one sounds really yummy !

Indian burgers are having spicy Indian flavors with many varieties of fillings. So you can choose many types of fillings as per your taste here in this restaurant.
It almost felt like I stepped into a comic book cafe. I love spicy foods, so I would have so much fun trying all the different flavors. How interesting that even McDonalds created something similar. When people start to copy you, then you know you are doing something right 🙂 That drink with the mint looks delicious as well.

Great post!! I would have no idea what Vada pao is if I haven’t had a taste of it while I was traveling in Mumbai few years ago. To be really fair this isn’t my fav street food of all the food I have eaten in India but it still could pass for my top 10. I have seen that Dubai got some great selection of India food, I guess it has to do with the amount of Indian Expat working there. Love to try it though when I travel to Dubai the next time.
May be if you love with some western fusion flavors here in this restaurant, then you may start loving it.

Mumbai must have changed so much, from when I was there in 1995! I would have loved to go and it at the place, and try their Vada Pao! We went back to India 2 years ago and it was interesting to see how some of the Western food infused with Indian food.
This post has made me feel hungry! I went to Dubai last year but if I return I’d be very happy to eat here. It looks like a fun place to eat and I like the huge choice on offer. The food looks so good. I’m sure it’s a popular place.
I had no idea that Mumbai’s famous street food could be found in Dubai. I clearly need to get to Mumbai and /or Dubai and give it a try! I think I would start with the Original Vada Pao. It looks tasty. I wonder if they do gluten-free buns?
They don’t have gluten free buns, but in sides you can find many gluten free varieties
This is so unusual and I love that O’Pao evolved from street food! The interior art has a lot of personality, too. I am intrigued by the flavor combinations. Some dishes sounded really tasty to me, like the Manchurian Pao. And you can bet I’d like the milk shake and Kit Kat dessert. Sometime you just have to enjoy some comfort food! This looks like such a nice find in Dubai all the way from the decor to the food. I love that there are so many veggie options for the burgers and the starters. Definitely looks like the kind of place to spend some time enjoying great food in a great atmosphere.
I am in India now and I am craving some Vada Pao right now. It’s so nice to see such a nice variety of western fusion style in vada pao in O’pao. I found that triple schezwan maggi and that manchurian vada pao to be really interesting, I got to taste them when I am in Dubai.

Yummy!! This Vada Pao looks really good! I’m particularly intrigued by the Manchurian Pao version, as I’m a big fan of Chinese noodles. The décor of the place looks really cool, too.
It seems there are so many great options. I love Indian food it is great to learn of all the vegetarian options. From what you had to eat I think I would love O’ PANEER MAKHNI PAO the best with the Indian gravy. The spices sound delicious. The chocolate moose without milk also looks yummy.

The Masala Thums Up sounds like the perfect thing to pair with the spices of the Original Vada Pao. I love the idea that this is the flavors of street food, but so clean, so less tummy worries.

I love the quirky décor and murals, makes it a fun place to be before you’ve tasted the food. I’d never heard of the Vada Pao but it sounds like they have put their own stamp on it. I think I’d like the O’ Manchurian Pao style of burger. I live in Dubai so might just pay a visit!

Although weird to read that a version can be found at some McDonalds. I was fascinated to read that the origin started with Portuguese potato fritters. It looks like you had a great feast. Yes Linda, Vada Pao in itself is a fusion dish with some ingredients brought by Portuguese to India and made into Indian style & flavors. Now O’ Pao restaurant is again giving many twists to this dish. To capture the Indian street food market and beat some local delicacies, McDonalds too launched Aloo Tikki Burger in Indian Markets, which shows how much popular is Vada Pao to Mumbai in India.
This is quite a find in Dubai,. If I get there and fancy a good quick snack, I really want to check this place out. I do love Indian food and I never known Indian food to be done as fast food so this is a plus! The burgers look tiny but I bet they sure fill you up. The price of the food looks pretty reasonable as well. 🙂
India too has lots of fast food options but they are little spicy and with some curried flavors too. So if you love spicy fast food then head to Indian fast food joints like O’ Pao in Dubai.
