Last week, I traveled to China for my brother’s wedding and during transit, I stayed in Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Center for a couple of nights. Review of Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Center – Perfect Stay Option in ShanghaiÂ
This hotel is a beautiful combination of luxury, leisure, and business. Perfectly located in the heart of downtown Shanghai and at a walkable distance from Nanjing Road & Bund(main tourist/shopping streets of Shanghai). This hotel is 37 floored building with stunning views of Shanghai skyline from upper-level rooms and bar.

Few steps from Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum & International Mall. All major tourist attractions are at walkable distance from this hotel.Â
Rooms
There is a total of 720 rooms with all modern amenities and comfortable bedding. Always opt for a city view room on a higher floor. We chose Executive Room with Business Lounge Access having a skyline view on the 25th Floor. Â
Size of the room is big enough with lots of sitting area.  Interiors are modern, chic and modernly designed. Mini fridge, Iron with Ironing board and tea making facility are included in the room. Also, all rooms keep 1 umbrella, as Shanghai weather is unpredictable. I needed more than one umbrella so asked them on request. Â
BathroomsÂ
Bathrooms are modern with all amenities like a tub, closet, bath gowns, slippers, hair dryer, shaving kits, dental kits, manicure kits, and herbal soaps. Also, the main feature of bathrooms is they are transparent and can be overlooked from rooms but curtains are provided to cover the glasses. Â
DiningÂ
Food is the plus point of this hotel. This hotel has an excellent and sumptuous breakfast buffet(included in my room stay). There are many varieties of cuisine from different parts of the world. Even vegetarians also enjoy lots of variety. This hotel has 3 restaurants Java +(Modern bar and High tea), Man Ho(Chinese restaurant) and Shanghai City Bistro & Lounge.

- Pamper yourself at luxurious iSpa which houses 6 treatment rooms. There are many relaxing & refreshing treatments with lots of exciting deals. (Have to purchase extra but discounts for room guests)

The Reception is grand and 24 hours open. Express Check in-Check Out facility is also there. 24 Hours service of Bell Boys is there to pick luggage and drop to the room. Interiors are grand with marble finish walls, huge Chandeliers, and big corridors. 4 Supersonic lifts are there as this hotel has 37 floors. This hotel has 32,819 sq. ft. of total meeting place which is suitable for business meets. High Security outside. The hotel arranges a reliable and cost-effective taxis. Free Wi-Fi all over the property. Â

I strongly recommend this hotel to everyone for a comfortable, luxurious and relaxing stay in Shanghai. Â
The currency of China – YUAN
This hotel has a Currency converter machine which accepts cash and credit card. This cash converter offers good conversion rate with less rate of commission. Â
Tip – Facebook, Whatsapp, and Google don’t work in China. So do all social networking before going to China. Instead of Google maps local China Map apps work. Download it before going or else instructions would be in Chinese if you download from China. Â
Note – All expenses of staying in this hotel are taken by me. This visit is my personal family visit. Â

I would really consider staying here when I eventually get to Shanghai (was suppose to be there next month but trip cancelled due to some flu virses going about). I really do love the decor and the beds do look comfortable. I have stayed in Marriott hotels across the world before and never had a problem with them before so I hope the service is still to a high service here.

An amazing property and in the heart of the city as most Marriotts are. This is one of the reasons why I try and find a Marriott as well when I travel. The hospitality and the location are key for me and this seems to tick both those boxes. The spa and the pool looks inviting and the perfect place after a long day out. overall a great property and if you have access to the M Club then this an added benefit. Thanks for sharing.

You cannot go wrong with a Marriott property. That looks like a great place to stay when exploring Shanghai.
This is another reason why I like China. Most of hotels are in high standard, and always grand.
I believe its “xie xie” means thank you in chinese Mandarin.
This just reminds me that I need to get back to China and visit Shanghai. I did love it in Duan and Chungsha and Nanning as well as in Hong Kong. But China is such a beautiful and amazing place. And I love all of the classic architecture there. So very beautiful.

The fact that it has a fitness center and a variety of restaurants has won it for me. But forgive my ignorance, why is Facebook, Whatsup and Google not allowed in China?

My husband and I have stayed at many Marriotts, but this one is probably the most beautiful I’ve seen. Everything from the lobby, to the rooms to the city skyline is absolutely beautiful. I hope you felt pampered. I can’t wait for your next post about weddings in China! x

What a luxurious hotel it seems to be, I personally love Marriott properties, have had many such stays in the past. Shanghai is beautiful, I personally love Bund in the night there.

Mariott hotel everywhere is just perfect, isn’t it!! China was the first ever international trip that I went on and it was solo too. So its very close to my heart. But I totally forgot which hotel I stayed in. This is so close to Madame Tussauds? That’s perfect for any tourist. The pool and ispa looks just sooo tempting…
The night view of the city from your room is amazing! I’d love to stay here when I visit Shanghai again. I like that their gym has more than 2 machines- that’s usually not the case at some hotels!

Marriot hotels are great, always very pleasant. When we were in Shanghai we stayed at the Grand Hyatt and it was just fantastic!
This has to be the most luxurious Marriott I’ve ever seen! The walls are dripping in art. Breakfast here alone is enough reason for me to want to stay here. The spread looks amazing!

This property does look first class and the food you photographed looks fabulous as well. I noticed you gave the food a 10 score and that is always something that denotes a hotel’s reputation. They have kept this hotel looking very well maintained and the central location and views you got were brilliant. Would definitely look at staying here on a trip to Shanghai.
I have stayed in some of the Marriott properties and have loved my stay. This one looks grand. Since it is walking distance from most of the points of interests, I am sure it made travel easier for you. I prefer booking hotels in central locations.
I recently stayed in a Shanghai in Broneo and I loved everything about it. They are such great hotels and I definitely stay in them when I can. The Shanghai Marriott Hotel City Center looks like a great place to stay and I love the fact it is in a central location. I love the space in the rooms too.

Wonderful review of the Hotel capturing all aspects of what they have to offer. I have stayed in Marriott around the world and have always found them to be the epitome of luxury and service. The rooms looks really comfortable, but more than that the food comes across as very tempting and delicious. Obviously the location matters a lot and as you have mentioned it is quite close to all the tourist spots so that’s another plus.
Marriott properties never disappoint, and I like the consistent service and quality. This looks like a great location for your brothers wedding and sightseeing. Plus, some time at the spa and gym between activities.
I have to say, I’m never disappointed when I stay at Marriott. This one looks incredible, especially as it’s in Shanghai too. The food choices are delicious, it’s made me really hungry while reading it. To top it off, the spa looks perfect too. A choice stay for Shanghai.
