These days I am always looking for ways to keep my wanderlust going. Virtual tours from home are a great way to add to the growing travel wish list. I love the idea of getting virtual tours around great outdoor spaces like the national parks. And any underwater virtual tours will grab us scuba divers for sure. Since I likely will never make it to space, that is one I need to check out!
I know, at present times, virtual tours are best
I used Explorit to do a virtual tour of New Orleans and it was fantastic! There was a tremendous amount of things to see and do. Lots of attractions were accompanied by videos to enhance the experience.
This is supercool, such a good advice! Now I know what I am doing this weekend, I am going on a walk of the Golden gate brdge 😀
Take some virtual tours of famous places, when you can’t travel.
This is an amazing resource. Now we can virtually travel to these dream destinations. Just opened the alps livecam from your post.
Good you loved it and enjoying your virtual Swiss trip.
What a fantastic resource for some armchair travel! I have bookmarked this page so I can refer back to it often. While I am truly missing my adventures during this difficult time–as so many of us are–having these virtual tours at my fingertips will help satisfy my wanderlust to some degree. Thank you for pulling together this great list.
This is such a cool list, Yukti. Thanks to Google Arts and Culture, I am now able to take so many historical tours just by sitting at home. Also, loved your collection of museums and national park tours. So thrilling for my kid. A perfect list for the times we are living in.
I honestly had no idea that such virtual tours are available for us. I used to think that most of these tours are for museums. I am going to download Google Arts & Culture and explore the national parks and the heritage sites virtually. Thanks for sharing these.
You would love them.
What a fantastic post full of ideas to help us with all our new found free time. There are lots of virtual tours I’m going to take. It’s really a great way to get some inspiration for your next trip!!
Thanks for finding out this post useful and yes virtual tours are great way to enjoy the world.
This is such a cool idea Yukti! I love national parks and nature so I might have to revisit Yosemite. Also what perfect timing for a virtual tour of Hampi! I was supposed to visit Hampi in 2 weeks but of course my trip is now postponed. I’ll be virtually touring the sights and getting excited for the time that I can reschedule my trip to India 🙂
Greay post!! Since most of us are in a lock down phase, educating yourself with all kinds of ways to utilize these time sounds absolutely perfect and taking a free virtual tour is one of the great idea. I guess its a great way for people who are addicted with traveling to experience traveling within the safety of their home.
Yes to see the world virtually is the best option at present.
What a great article, not just for the current COVID-19 situation we find ourselves in, but for everyday I general. I knew about virtual museum tours, but never thought about exploring the pyramids or US national parks via a computer. It is an entertaining yet educational way to pass our time in quarantine!
I agree that these resources are not useful in current situations but also a great resource for those who can’t travel due to many personal reasons. We can have the view of world on live cameras or virtual tours.
These are some brilliant resources for virtual tours. And yes, we should make the most of it right now. I did not know of the Hampi one….I am going to check that one out to see how it works. Am gonna look up the museum ones too. Thanks for sharing these.
I agree some are very interesting with all information too which sometimes we miss while going through these sites.
When I visited Cairo and the pyramids, the guide gave us just 2 h to walk around (1h we had time just to go inside Keops pyramid). For me, 2 h was not enough because the distances to cover are pretty big and I needed just 1 h to walk around Keops pyramid. It is ironic how now we can see everything from the tap of a button. Do you know if these virtual tours will be available also after this thing will be over?
I haven’t gotten to take any of the virtual tours yet. However, I’m looking forward to exploring some of these with my son and husband! My son loves wildlife, so I’m so happy that you included some options for that!
What a great list! I’ve bookmarked this for future use. I started with the marine life one and will be checking out Machu Pichu and Yosemite shortly!
I guess virtual tours are all we are left with these days. At any rate, this are some good tips for satisfying your desire for travel while you are forced to stay indoors. I use this time to watch some movies and work on my blog.
What a novel idea! We’re on lockdown at the moment, and of course traveling is off the radar for the foreseeable future. I’d be most keen to see the tours of Hawaii and Waikiki. Thank you for providing these resources; they’ll come in handy during this challenging period.
Yes Lisa, these resources really become helpful when we are stuck at home.
I’m definitely gonna be perusing Google Arts & Culture and doing virtual tours of zoos/aquariums over the next couple weeks! Thanks so much for putting this together!
Love all of these suggestions. I’ll have to check them out.
Thanks for finding these suggestions beautiful
Wow! I had no idea that we have a lot of virtual tours available. This is just an amazing way to use technology. Will incorporate this in our homeschooling lessons. Thank you for sharing.
Yes virtual tours are always great to see the world when you are at home.
