One of nature’s most spectacular wonders is located on the international borders between the USA and Canada. It is between the state of New York (the northern part of the US) and Ontario – the province of Canada (the southern part of Canada). Niagara is the collective name of three waterfalls. From smallest to largest, the three waterfalls are The Horseshoe falls, The American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls.
This is located on the Niagara River, which falls into Lake Erie & Lake Ontario. This combined waterfall falls from the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world with a vertical drop of more than 165 ft. I viewed Niagara Falls from the US side and you can also view it from Canada side.
Niagara Falls Attractions – Niagara Falls Itinerary USA side
There are many Niagara Falls attractions in which most famous ones are listed below.
- Cave of the winds
- Maid of the Mist
- Niagara Gorge Discovery Center
- Observation Tower

- Laser light and fireworks show at night.
Maid of the mist –
Click here to book a Maid of the mist tour with other stops to view Niagara Falls.
It is a cruise that takes you to the thundering roar of 600,000 gallons of water falling right before your eyes. So just hear the crashing waves, the rush of mist on the face which is a wonderful lifetime experience. From this cruise, you can touch the falls as it takes closer to them and can stand under the falls for a few minutes which is like experiencing nature’s adventure in true form.
The cost of the ticket on this cruise – is $14.60 for an adult (can vary). Also, many group discounts are available. Children under 12 are free.
Tips Visit to Niagara Falls – Take Adventure with Nature
- As this is a water activity and you get completely into the water take waterproof cameras/mobile for taking pictures or wrap them into the plastic sheet. Save your camera/mobile from water because under the fall you cannot stop water from entering.
- Go for an early morning cruise ride to avoid large Qs.
- Wear fit flops or sports sandals as water goes inside the shoes. We wore shoes, so got completely wet and have to purchase slippers on the way.
- The cruise is 2-tier, so to experience full adventure take place on the terrace to enjoy fully.
- Be careful with small children because the flow of water is heavy.

Laser Light show – Evening/Night tour – One day in Niagara Falls NY
There is a laser show every night with occasional fireworks accompanied by a light show. Every evening beginning at dusk, Niagara Falls is changed into stunning colored lighted water. A special laser light show is arranged in Niagara Falls and lasts for about 15 minutes at different intervals, followed by fireworks. Refer to illumination show timings before heading towards it.

Staying in Niagara – Niagara Falls Itinerary USA Side
There are two choices. Many hotels are near the falls overlooking it, and another one is living in Buffalo, 42 kilometers (25 miles) from the falls which is a developed city.
How to reach Niagara – Niagara Falls Day Trip
408.4 miles (700 km) from New York, approximately a 7 to 8-hour drive by car. The nearest international airport is Boston and Buffalo. Buffalo is 25 miles(42 kilometers) away. A road trip to Niagara in a single day is very hectic so better to stay in 1 city like Boston(famous for IVY league educational institutes) or Syracuse (a nice scenic town surrounded by lakes and vineyards).
There are many restaurants and cafes so there is no problem with the food. Also, many supermarkets like K-mart are located very near.
Some pictures while going towards Buffalo(our stay for Niagara falls) from Boston

Niagra is seriously so beautiful. I’ve been when I was way younger on both sides and loved it so much. I need to go back as an adult though.
Niagara was the first international destination I ever experienced. What makes it even more special is that it was the only time my entire family has traveled internationally together. I love to go back now, and experience it again as an adult!
I’ve always wanted to go niagra falls but I’m not sure how well I’d deal with the crowds. I remember watching a show about the falls I always thought it looked beautiful
Niagara Falls is such a natural wonder. I visited it few months back and totally loved it. I missed on the helicopter ride but the Maid of the Mist sailing close was such a fantastic experience!
You took some absolutely stunning photos of Niagara Falls. You have inspired me to visit, the Maid of the Mist sailing close to the falls looks like a once in a lifetime experience! I didn’t know about the wineries in the area, they are well worth a visit too.

I’ve been to Niagra Falls (on the U.S) side and you’re right, it truly is spectacular! While I didn’t do it, I can still remember people in their blue ponchos and also the laser light show. That I DID see and it was one of the coolest things! x
I will never get tired of visiting Niagara Falls. It is just a awesome work of nature! To be so close to the falls and hear the loud roar of the water is an experience in itself.
We visited the Niagara Falls last year and fell in love with the legendary Maid of the Mist boat tour. We also tried our luck at the Niagara Fallsview Casino while did some ice wine sampling at the Inniskillin Winery.

I love Niagara Falls and I’ve heard that its also called as three falls. I’ve been wanting to go and see it personally, hope someday. Thanks for the ride.
Aside from the beauty and wonder of the falls itself, I am so impressed with all the parks you have named as being in the region. As a keen nature lover and hiker, I would love to experience and explore those areas as well.
Niagara and it’s parks are beautiful and if I visit Niagara, I will definitely visit those parks which you have mentioned above thanks for this wonderful article
Niagara Falls have been on my travel bucket list for ages and not yet having a chance to visit there and see all that in real. I didn’t know there areso many attractions there, so it’s really a whole day trip, especially if you want to see the falls in all angles.
Niagara Falls is so beautiful and though I have never been to see it it fascinates me as I remember watching an old classic movie with Marilyn Monroe where she has her hubby killed there if I remember correctly……..

Your article captures the essence of Niagara Falls
Amazing post, it looks like heaven on earth, ill surely go there to see Niagara Falls once in a life, added to my wishlist and thanks for sharing 🙂
As one of the world’s most popular waterfalls, it is clear to see why. It’s just breathtakingly beautiful. Even though I’ve seen photos of it many times, it still never ceases to amaze.
Niagara Falls is so gorgeous and your photos capture it perfectly. I wish I could go back there. I went there when I was a little kid, so I barely remember it!
The word Nigara fall is enough to say about it! True adventure with nature. I also thinks that view of Nigara is best from Canadian side. How insightful your blog is….
I think perception matters… from where we r looking at nature looks beautiful from that side only. Both sides of Nigara are beautiful. Beauty is admired by real admirers not by the scale
The view of Niagara from the Canadian side is much better. There are so many things to do on the way to Niagara on both sides of the border. Love those pics of the fireworks.
Do you have any legal proof stating that View from Canadian side is much better? Also I appreciate you like it from that side but for true nature lovers, they appreciate even the blooming of flowers. We cannot scale the beauty of beauties made by God.
This is on my bucket list. Thanks for all the insight on how to make the trip amazing. Beautiful pictures!
I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know about Niagra Falls! What an informative post. We need to plan a few days to explore there with the kids. The fireworks look amazing!!
I never knew they were three falls. I always assumed it is a single fall. Absolutely amazing post. Amazing pictures too.
I was just at Niagara Falls last month! I really enjoyed the fireworks – it was so beautiful to watch! The helicopter ride also gave us a bird’s eye view of the region!
