Enjoying the Garden city or Oasis city of UAE

During last week’s whole week off, I preferred to escape with my family from busy scheduled life to the second biggest city of the biggest emirates of UAE – Abu Dhabi. Also known as Garden city or Oasis due to its natural greenery throughout surrounded by arid hot desert.   The specialty of this city is not only the greenery but it is also dating back to 4th B.C., as many historical or archaeological traces have been found in this area. Al ain offers many options of hiking, exotic animals zoo, car racing track on high Hajar mountains and that is why it is a very favorite destination for long weekend breaks and nature lovers.  Al Ain is in the eastern region of UAE bordering with Oman and also a birthplace of UAE’s president. LOBBY OR RECEPTION AREA of Al Ain Rotana

Al Ain Rotana’s grand & lavish Arabesque styled magnificent Lobby – reception welcomes you with all love and warmth.  As this hotel also provides online check-in, our check-in was smooth and very fast. Due to free parking and valet parking facility, our car was parked by them and a bell boy guided us to our room with all the luggage.  The magnificent huge atrium is adorned with many Arabic lamps, wooden piano, elegant couches, café, glass elevators with a large smiling staff of Rotana.

  1. Great review!! Al Ain Rotana looks a great and luxurious stay. I am more of a budget travel but sometimes you should pamper yourself and this could be a great option for it. I really like interior of the hotel, especially the lobby area it looked really glamorous and sublime. I find it interesting when hotel have exotic souvenir shops which often time saves up some hustle and time.

  2. Al Ain looks very beautiful and wonderful place to stay. I had been there just a day morning to evening for a business purpose. The problem was I had only less time to spend there. I had a good time there. But most of the resorts were costly when I visited there. Moreover, I was just looking for a 3-hour stay. I got micro stay for 3 hours through the Stayhopper app. The hotel stays had now become more flexible to customers with the Stayhopper app. Anyway, thank you Yukthi for giving a piece of good information.

  3. Some day I will make it here but for now I’ll just dream. 😉 Beautiful resort and sounds like a wonderful place to stay. I think they’ve nailed all the really important hotel features but the swim up pool bar for me would be the coolest one.

  4. It looks like a great hotel for a short break in Abu Dhabi. The view of the race track is impressive, especially the night shot with all the lights against the dark desert. Staycations can be such a relaxing change,

  5. Al Ain Rotana seems like the perfect place for a staycation. The room looks nice and cozy .I would love to chill by the poolside. Also nice to see so many dining options and list of amenities like jacuzzi, gym etc .Would love to visit here someday.

  6. Have not been to UAE but my image of it is of luxury resorts such as this Al Ain Rotana. Interesting to read that the city is known as garden city, for its oasis greenery. The hotel looks very grand, from lobby to rooms and other public spaces. The gardens and pool areas in particular are appealing.

    1. Thanks Kavita and yes this city is truly green though it is surrounded by dry desert. You would love this place and hotel.

  7. Al Ain looks incredibly beautiful and I’m glad to know there are so many things to do here like car racing and visiting the exotic animal zoo. I love that car racing track picture. I didn’t know the car racing scene from the Race movie was shot here. Al Ain Rotana sounds sheer luxury – I mean look at that magnificent lobby, the temperature controlled swimming pool, landscaped gardens, luxury spa, cozy beds, view from the room, valet parking, Jacuzzi, gym, and the list goes on. With so many dining options and amenities – this place is a perfect getaway for a pampering weekend. The sunset from the Jebel Hafeet is simply amazing.

    1. Thanks Shaily for reading through. Even after driving on that racing track, I too came to know that the movie Race’s climax scene has been shot here.

  8. Al Ain Rotana is definitely a place that reminded me of Swahili Beach Resort in Kenya. Well, it is so nice to see that you got to relax in a such a beautiful property. I love to enjoy such staycations. The poolside bar intrigued me much, and there is a spa, what else I be needing!

  9. I have to admit Im not a fan of UAE but I can see myslef enjoying my time there when you are staying at hotel like this! I can see myself reading the book by the pool or strolling around the gardens! Your dress (from the pics from the gardens)look amazing btw!

  10. Yukti, this is very helpful for me. We are planning to do a day’s stopover at Abu Dhabi on our next trip to Europe and Al Ain Rotana seems like the perfect place to stay in. I love everything cultural and that lobby looks magnificently Arabic. The rooms are lush. With all that history in Abu Dhabi, I am sure we will be thoroughly entertained.

  11. What a lovely staycation! This looks like the perfect destination- for families too! We have a toddler, so it was fun to see that they offer a playground with a slide and swings. We would love that. The luxury spa sounds incredible too. I’ll keep this in mind for a future trip to UAE!

  12. I’m sold at the 4th C archaeological sites! I have to stay here and explore these places!
The hotel looks incredibly spectacular! I’m always in love with hotel rooms with balcony and views!
The pool looks impeccable! Good that there are multiple restaurants that serve different food!

  13. Wow Yukti, This place looks fantastic. I can agree that it’s a perfect wedding venue, like a dream! Rooms, pool and landscape looks absolutely fantastic!

  14. This looks like an absolute oasis in the desert! It looks amazing to chill out and relax here. But it’s good to know there are still plenty of things to do in the area while visiting.

  15. I loved reading about your experience – especially as it seemed to be a bring in a mix of the cultural style along with the amenities of a luxury resort. The photographs of the resort look beautiful – my family would love to enjoy a cool dip in their beautiful swimming pool on balmy evenings in the UAE. Thanks for all the detailed information – it will come in handy when we plan our trip to UAE.

  16. Looks like a really nice hotel. I’ve never been to UAE, but I hope I get the chance to visit one day. This hotel looks like it would make a great place to relax for a couple days in between destinations.

  17. Looks like they thought of everything in order to give the best experience to their visitors. Glad to hear you had a lovely time there!

  18. Al Ain Rotana looks AMAZING! I especially love the view of your room overlooking the pool and the mountains in the distance. And three styles of breakfast? Great options. It looks like the management of Al Ain Rotana is on top of their game, even providing cover over the children’s play area. But then, they didn’t earn a 5-rating without offering outstanding hospitality! I would definitely love the chance to stay here. Thanks for bringing Al Ain Rotana to my attention.

    1. Thanks Jackie for reading through and yes they have high score on hospitality and some excellence awards too from global tourism organizations.

  19. I must admit that Al Ain Rotana seems to be the perfect station place and I would want to experience this for sure. If you have a property like this with the facilities it provides and you have the weather on your side as you do in Abu Dhabi who would need to travel out of the country. The accommodation looks very clean and tidy in line with 5 star quality and the rooms are spacious. The views of the garden and poo are very refreshing as well and you could have a perfect tea overlooking these from your room and relax. The kids area a added benefit and would tick a box for me . Overall a great place for a staycation for sure

    1. Yes this place is like oasis in desert as it has lot of greenery and that too with all luxury amenities. Thanks for reading through

  20. What an amazing place to enjoy a week’s vacation! The grounds are amazing and that view of the pool from your room is magnificent. I also like that there are areas for children to have fun too. What a great way to relax with family.

  21. What a fantastic resort for a family staycation! I like Al Ain and how green it is but I haven’t as yet made it to Al Ain Rotana. The poolside bar Aquarius looks like the sort of place I’d spend the day at and so happy to know that their pool is temperature controlled. Also, so happy to know they have a Trader Vics there, I love it!

  22. Everything about this place looks so royal. The architecture, the gardens and the facade are all designed keeping luxury seekers in mind. While I don’t think I can afford a stay at this place (lol) but I will surely recommend this to my friends going to UAE soon.

  23. That bar next to the pool… yes please! Looks like the kind of place that we would love to stay while visiting UAE. Hopefully next year!

  24. Wow I love this property. The views of the car racing track are amazing. The swimming pool looks exceptionally large in the photos compared to other places. The garden looks so beautiful at night. This is a perfect staycation indeed.

    1. Thanks Sinjana and yes I too loved the pool and its surrounding garden. This place is very relaxing and to drive across car racing track is really fun filled activity to do here.

  25. If you have to do a ‘staycation’ I can’t think of a better place than UAE!! What an amazing place!! Al Ain Rotana is just stunning and I love that they have activities for kids!

  26. The nice things about visiting United Arab Emirates is that most of their hotels are really nice. Although, I have only visited about 15 years ago, but even then all the hotels seemed to somewhat luxery. I love many things about this resort. The amount of services they offer is awesome, and their kids lounge looks so much fun! Definitely a plus when traveling with kids.

  27. The pool area looks amazing! Definitely a good tip to ask for a pool facing room. The nearby hot springs sound amazing too though it would be hard to drag me away from all that luxury!

    1. Yes, sometimes hotel luxuries are so many, we don’t feel like going out. So we check out early to do some day trip in Al Ain city.

  28. Al ain Rotana looks like such an incredible place to stay with a family. Love all the amenities especially that pool! Also how great is it that there is a playground on site and that kids’ lounge is pretty cool too! Personally I would be all over that spa 😉

  29. Thanks for listing all the nearby attractions but I could see families never leaving the resort because the kids would have so much fun there!

  30. Ok, that poolside bar is what really sold me, but seriously what a gorgeous place! They’ve really thought of everything you could possibly need and want while traveling. My biggest problem with staying here is I would never leave the hotel to explore the city and sights!

    1. Thanks Diana and yes I too agree that leaving the hotel must be difficult for us as there are so many things to do here.

  31. Yeah, I could see myself staying here! I would definitely stay for those pools alone! I love how magical the pool area looks at night with the lights. I also love how they have actual playgrounds and play areas for kids. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve traveled with little kids and they could either play at the pool or in their room. You know what? Sometimes kids want to run and climb on stuff! 🙂

  32. Al Ain Rotana is the perfect place for a family staycation. Imagine, everything you need is already there. I wish I could visit this place in Dubai with my hubby and kids someday. Will pin this post for future reference!

  33. I haven’t visited Al Ain yet but I was planning to visit later on this year. And I’m really glad I came across this article. Judging on your experience, it sure seems to be one the best staycations in UAE. I will definitely consider staying here for my upcoming trip. Thank you for the recommendation
