  • Hotel Stays in Dubai get expensive on Thursday & Friday nights as the weekend in UAE starts from Thursday evening. So check your days before booking and if you want to save money then be a little flexible in choosing days.
  • There are many famous luxury branded and local hotel chains in Dubai and many offer eye-catching deals from time to time. So if you are planning a visit to Dubai, then before selecting a hotel, download hotel apps on your phone or follow their social media accounts, so that you can come across such deals and can crack easily.
  • Hotels of Dubai are expensive in winter – from late October to March-end.
  • If you want to save money, then consider the apartment stays in Dubai as they are also equally luxurious and located in prime locations with superb views of the Dubai skyline. Some apartments also offer a breakfast option, if you don’t want to cook.
  • If you are not booking any pre-booked guided tours for Dubai and self-planning your trip, then choose a hotel with proximity to the Metro station. Metro is very safe and provides a beautiful ride across Dubai.
  • All metro stations are located on the main national highway – Sheikh Zayed Road, so hotels closer to this highway are nearer to metro or taxi availability.
  • Apart from famous luxury global brands, check some local hotel brands of UAE or the Middle East because they offer world-class services and amenities in their properties.
  • There are many Hilton’s, Hyatt’s, or Holiday Inn specific to neighborhoods and class amenities. So don’t get confused while booking with the same brand name, check the neighborhood associated with their name.
  • Jumeirah is not only the name of hotel chains but there are several areas or neighborhoods with Jumeirah as their name. There are many “Jumeirah” in the city, so don’t get confused with the name Jumeirah. They all are widespread.
  • All areas of Dubai are very very safe and even hotels too. So there is no need to worry about a safety issues in Dubai.

The total area of this city is 4114 km 2.  The climate is sunny all year round and unlike European countries, this city can’t be covered all by foot or walking tours. You need to hire a taxi, car, tours, or use public transport to commute to Dubai and enjoy the major attractions here. 1. Such an extensive insightful guide . Definitely will use in the future . Dubai has so many great choices to choose from. Anywhere you stay should be just what you need .

  2. Dubai has always fascinated me. While the historic quarter is just a sliver, I’d love to see it with the backdrop of this ultra-modern city. Loved the pros and cons you gave, definitely helps me narrow down where I’ll be staying!

  3. Even the mid-range hotels look lux in Dubai. I think the competition is really high, so they have to keep their rooms squeaky clean and look brand new all the time. I like how you put one of the pros to stay in downtown area: some hotel rooms have The Burj view. 🙂 And it’s good to know that it is very safe in Dubai, whatever district you choose.

  4. Such a wonderful guide! Dubai definitely have some wonderful places to stay at ! The architecture of the city is unbelievable ! When I went there I stayed at JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai and it was so perfect! The view from the pool was so beautiful ! I cant wait to be back there one day

  5. Dubai has always fascinated me. While the historic quarter is just a sliver, I’d love to see it with the backdrop of this ultra-modern city. Loved the pros and cons you gave, definitely helps me narrow down where I’ll be staying!

  6. Oh My! This is such an extensive list!! One is really spoilt for choice in Dubai to say the list. Dubai has always been in my bucket list and I always wanted to stay in Palm Jumeirah. But after reading your post I am so gonna select a place in Financial District and maybe use up my hotel points to stay in a hotel with a good view as well as good walk score! And incase the points are not enough, JLT is now my second favourite choice! 😀

    1. I know Vishakha, Dubai has so many amazing choices, that we are always confused. And mostly all hotels provide amazing services here.

  7. I can totally relate to your blog, having visited Dubai twice for long hauls. I love the JBR residences, for the simple reason that they are so close to the beach in the otherwise sky- high towers in Dubai which are omnipresent. I have stayed at Bur Dubai, but I would love to check out the Al-Seef on my next visit maybe! I liked the area around the Palm Jumeriah too!

  8. Wow. That’s an impressive list. I was hoping to do a long layover in Dubai this time but with Covid all plans were foiled. But now I have your post to refer back to when I plan again. The lavish hotels with the impeccable views of Dubai is just spectacular. Being a culture & history buff, Bur Dubai would be my pick. To experience true Middle East life-style and with Indian restaurants, this is just perfect.

    1. I know you would pick old Dubai as you are culture and history lover. Pick Al fahidi fort area or Al Seef area with olden style of homes and architecture.

  9. What a useful guide for trip planning! I have no idea that Dubai is divided into 9 sectors and then subdivided into 130 communities in which some are totally for residential purposes, and some are for tourists. I would love to stay for a few days in this fabulous city. I would love to stay in Dubai Marina, to feel the nightlife, have a drink at the top of these restaurants with the city view.

  10. Amazing guide for Dubai! It has been over 15 years since my visit and I can just imagine how much it has changed. I definitely need this info about the hotels. At that time there was so many building projects and new hotels were opened every week. I hope to visit soon again and I can use this when choosing where to stay.

  11. This is a great list. I have been to Dubai a couple of times and I had the privilege to stay in some and I agree with you that they are one of the best hotels. 🙂

We are hoping to stay at JBR in the future. We are considering Hilton or Sofitel for a change as we have been staying in the downtown are in all of our trips.

Thank you for sharing these recommendations.

  12. Dubai is gorgeous! Great images-I love all the lights at night. Great guide on where to stay while visiting. There are so many options-I don’t know where I would start! I think I would want to go with a luxury resort option for Dubai, it seems fitting for the area. The JBR area sounds like the perfect spot to sit, relax, and watch the sunset. Such a unique city!

  13. I have stayed in Jumeriah and Bur Dubai most of the time. Al Fahidi and Deira always seemed a little crowded for my liking. I would not mind staying near the mall area the next time- seems quite convenient. And Palm beach would be an absolute dream. It always appeared lavish to me!

  14. Dubai is a city on my bucket list. It has fascinating architecture. I want to photograph these buildings at night. Your post is constructive because I always have a problem where to stop for the night. I like hotel recommendations. I can’t afford luxury hotels, but I’d like to have a drink and enjoy the views from their restaurant. It’s an excellent idea for a trip during the week when prices are lower. Thanks for all your tips!

  15. This post reminded me of all the good times I had in Dubai. I was there was six months when my husband was posted for a year. We lived in a hotel apartment in Bur Dubai and my hotel apartment was very close to the metro station. It was a very lively area. I distinctly remember seeing some of the above mentioned areas and of course the Jumeirah and Dubai Downtown are plush areas. Dubai marina also dazzles with sprawling buildings. I so wish to return to Dubai for all the fun and top-notch hospitality.

  16. You had me at sunset views at JBR Beach! All of these neighborhoods sound lovely and I honestly can’t pick where I’d stay. Good to hear they’re all safe and it’s so interesting that their weekend starts from Thursday!

    1. Yes Jas, sunset views from JBR is best one. In UAE we get holidays on Friday and Saturday. Sunday is 1st day of the working day.

  17. I didn’t know both the tallest and most expensive hotels in the world are in Dubai! The JBR in Beach region definitely sounds my speed! I love that you’re nearby budget eating options and different beach activities, but still have access to lots of post/nightlift options as well.

  18. I’ve not been to Dubai yet, but I admit it can be very overwhelming for me in general to try and choose accommodation. This was a really helpful guide, and you paint a picture of Dubai that has me wanting to book a ticket yesterday! I think I’d like the marina area because as you said it’s so easily connected, and is close to all of the restaurants and nightlife. I like having everything close to me as I’m terrible with directions. I’m lucky I can remember how to get around my own neighborhood!

  19. Oh my god! So much information, what a great resource!

Personally I would go for the apartment style hotels. But I’m not sure I’d be able to afford them. Also, I think Deira might be the area for me.

  20. Dubai looks so futuristic and modern! I have not been there, so thank you for the comprehensive list. This definitely gives me the resources I need to book my trip (when it is safe to travel, again).

  21. An incredibly detailed post! I haven’t been to Dubai but hopefully next year – so definitely saving this for later! Thanks so much.

  22. Before I visited Dubai I found it overwhelming trying to work out best places to stay and areas to stay. Been twice now and unless you have more than 24 hours then near airport is easy. So hard to choose hotels especially with so many getting built all the time.

    1. Yes many hotels in all neighborhoods becomes very confusing. Also all offer best amenities, so again confusing. Better to select area wise. hotel in Dubai.

  23. I have been to Dubai a number of times & wish I had this guide before I booked! For me staying in the right place is one of the most important aspects of any holiday. This is really useful as Dubai & all the options can be overwhelming.

  24. It looks like it would be so hard to choose where to stay in Dubai, there looks like a lot of great options! I love the city lights and skyscrapers so I think I might want to stay in the Dubai Marina. It would be nice to have a skyline view. Then again I love the beach so the Jumeirah Beach Residences would be nice to be close to the water and all the water sports. This is a great guide and I will definitely save it and reference it on any future visits to Dubai!

  25. Would love to visit Dubai one day, but I would have no idea where to start with places to stay. I know we would have to decide between the marina area and beach. Thank you for all the recommendations!

  26. We struggled with what area to stay in when we were in Dubai – downtown or by the Marina. We ultimately chose to be in the Marina and our loyalty status dictated the perfect choice for us. But great to get a few of options around town. A agree that proximity to public transit should be a key criteria. We would never want to try again to get around by car! Having a better idea of the pros and cons of each area will help when we plan a return visit to Dubai! Pinned for next time.

    1. Thanks Linda for reading and I guess your Marina choice would be great, as personally I too like Marina for a vibrant stay in Dubai.

  27. Wow, so much info! It’s been a few years since I was in Dubai. I love Jumeirah Beach area. I will definitely come back to this article when I can travel again!
